QUICKSTART, SETUP YOUR NEW PHONE SYSTEM
Following this guide will allow you to quickly set your new phone system up in as little as 10 minutes. Your new phone system comes pre-configured for the number of phones you ordered configured with basic call routing. All callers will ring all phones for 300 seconds (5 minutes) and then go to voicemail. The voicemail account is linked to the "Admin User," which is the 1st user on the account, named "Admin User," this is the account you use to log into SmartPBX. Quick Setup Steps
- Rename users and devices (devices are phones, fax adapters, and paging adapters). Update the device names as necessary to make sure you see the appropriate names when dialing internally or receiving calls.
- Set up hours and holidays. You may want callers to reach you during open hours, but not ring in after hours. You can elect to have calls go to a separate auto attendant or directly to your voicemail box so they won't sit on hold, hoping to speak to someone when no one's available.
- Set up Call Routing. Choose what your customers hear when calling in. Want a simple ring to all phones then on to a voicemail if no one is available? Would you like an auto attendant or virtual receptionist to list a menu of options for your customers to choose from? Do you want those options to ring to specific phones instead of everyone? No problem, follow this guide to customize your call routing to meet your customer's needs.
You can test all your functionality with the temporary number provided to the SimpleVoIP welcome email. This number is always available in SmartPBX under Main Number; hang on to this number and provide it to your current provider to forward it to when you install the new SimpleVoIP phones.
